The ceremony

Saturday, October 18th 2003 was the very last sunny day in this year. Under a blue sky and colorful autumn leaves our families and friends came together in St. Peter and Paul in Neufarn. Robert walked with Matthias, the witness to the marriage, the short distance from hotel to church. There he welcomed all our guests and waited inside for his bride. Shortly after beautiful Alexandra arrived with her father in the limousine.

The ceremony began. Alexandra´s father led the bride to the altar. Some of Robert´s family members rushed in shortly after them. Although the ceremony took one hour, time seemed to pass by for us very fast. Our priest has known Alexandra since she was a child. With him, our families and friends we felt a very private atmosphere. The very peak of the ceremony was the promise we gave each other:

The bride The groom
"Alexandra/Robert,
in the presence of god I take you as my wife/husband.
I promise you faithfulness
in good and bad days,
in healthiness and illness
until death seperates us.
I want to love, respect and honor you
all days of my life.
Take this ring
as a sign for our love and faithfulness:
In the name of the father, the son
and the holy ghost."

It has to be mentioned that Robert was the only one who could remember this promise without aid. Alexandra forgot her words and had to look at a small paper the priest showed her. Robert was so happy about this. Normally it is him who forgets the important things in this relationship. Let´s hope that he will always remember his wedding-day! :-)
